Fans of the hit
HBO series True Blood are going crazy over the
September issue of
Rolling Stone. Why, you ask? Because the show’s three
hottest stars (
Anna Paquin, Alexander Skarsgard and Stephen Moyer) are
naked – and covered in blood - on the cover.
While many think the cover is gruesome (after all, the actors are
stripped nude and splattered with blood),
True Blood fans are crazy
excited to see the issue hit newsstands this week.
Perhaps even more shocking than the splattered blood and lack of
clothing is the position of the stars in the photo. Real-life couple
Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer (who just got engaged at the beginning of
the month), are striking a provocative pose in the controversial pic,
with Stephen grabbing Anna’s naked breast with his blood-covered hand.
The creator of the show,
Alan Ball, also weighs in, saying: 'The idea
of celibate vampires is ridiculous. 'To me, vampires are sex. I don't get
a vampire story about abstinence.'
The quote is obviously a thinly veiled comment on Stephenie Meyer's smash hit
Twilight series of books and movies. Meyer is a Mormon and in her books, the vampires in question have to
abstain from sex with their human counterparts so as not to kill them.
And Ball isn't afraid of alienating the core teenage audience that is
drawn to the Twilight projects.
True Blood already has a huge following
on the HBO channel.
'I'm 53,' says Ball. 'I don't care about high school students. I find them irritating and uninformed.'
The highly anticipated cover hits newsstands today and is expected to
be one of the highest selling issues of the year. The caption on the
cover reads “
True Blood, They’re Hot, They’re Sexy, They’re Undead.”
Do you think the
True Blood Rolling Stone Cover is sexy???
