| Does Lafayette have powers? |
A Look at Lafayette Reynolds
By now you should have watched Season 3, Episode 8 of True Blood. In this episode, among all of the other craziness that is True Blood, we hear Lafayette’s mother say that he has powers that he doesn’t know about. Lafayette immediately dismisses her “crazy ass”. She is being held at a loony bin, so that makes you immediately disregard her psychotic rants, right? WRONG! There is no way in hell that she said that just to say it. She even went on a rant about witches, dogs & cats coming to get him.
Is his mom some kind of psychic? Maybe she has witch blood in her? I am not 100% sure. But I do know that Lafayette has some kind of power. The evidence is definitely stacking up on my side of this argument. Here are some of my reasons to believe that Lala (as his mom affectionately calls him) has powers.
There is also a moment when Jesus tells Lafayette that his mom’s ramblings about him being “powerful” are true. Jesus also goes on to say that Lafayettes drug dealing can be dangerous due to “all that energy” he has. He tells Lala that things could go “dark” real quick.
I think this is in reference to good and bad witchcraft. Jesus being a good witch, there to protect Lafayette and his mom, trying to keep him on the light side of things.
I think Lafayette has witch powers in him. Maybe some kind of psychic ability or strength or attraction/seduction ability. Reasons to Believe Lafayette has a Power
1. He is a tough gay, African American that no one messes with.
2. Vampires hire him to sell their blood (also known as V).
3. Eric Northman spares his life after holding him captive in his Fangtasia dungeon. He must have sense something in Lala, like he did on Sookie.
4. Eric Northman gives him his blood to heal. Eric doesn’t give out his blood to just anyone. Thus forming that bond between Lafayette and himself, similar to how Sookie is connected to Bill and Eric, and Tara is connected to Franklin.
5. In the Sookie books, Lafayette is already dead by now. Keeping him alive on the show must mean that there are bigger and better things coming for Lafayette. I know they originally kept him on because he was a fan favorite, but still, that just means that they are expanding his role on the show.
6. He seems to be the only person that can ease Tara’s quivering lip and angst.
7. He knows when things are not right with Tara.
8. He has a new suitor, Jesus. Which just happens to be Lafayette’s mom’s attendant at the mental hospital.
9. He is versatile: Jobs so far consist of being a short order cook at Merlotte’s, a drug dealer, a member of Jason’s road crew, and a gay prostitute.
10. He was able to sway Eric into not killing him.
11. Jesus makes it a point to go on about Lafayette’s being “powerful” and about his “energy”.
Now, there are probably more reasons, but I just can’t think of any from True Blood season 1 or season 2. But the fact that Jesus is taking a liking to Lafayette has got to do with his powers. Jesus seems to be some kind of witch too, or just s serious stalker. :) How does he know so much about the “energy” that Lafayette has?
