'True Blood' Creator Teases Season Four Conjuring Up A Witch?

Hallow Stonebrook Book

Though this season of True Blood still has three episodes to go, I’ve already got scoopage on the next one: Long story short, it might as well be titled “Season of the Witch!

Series creator Alan Ball reveals that he’ll be introducing Hallow Stonebrook, the were-sorceress from Charlaine Harris’ fourth Sookie novel, Dead to the World. Preferring to refer to the character as a necromancer, the boss man says she’s “actually a medium. She communicates with the dead, and she’s interested in developing further powers.”

In the book, Hallow casts a spell on Eric, so um, not sure what more desirable power there can be. Anyway, she’s described as a tall, trim brunette—or, to me, Juliet Landau, Buffy’s nutso Drusilla. But who do you see in the role? Below’s your casting couch.
"Hallow, and her brother threatened Eric that they would curse him by turning Fangtasia’s alcoholic drinks bad, and cause patrons to trip over the dance floor and sue them, which would badly affect Fangtasia’s revenues. Pam tells Sookie that a witch had come with a message from Hallow saying that Hallow lusted for Eric and asked him if he would entertain her for seven nights, she would only demand a fifth of his business, rather than half. Eric had refused and suddenly vanished from the office where they were discussing this offer. Eric says he does not remember anything and that he was born the moment he was running down the road. Pam and Chow asked Sookie to keep Eric safe while they solve the problem with the witches. Later Sookie learns through Holly Clearly (another waitress at Merlotte’s) that this coven of witches have a lot of power that they are willing to use for evil, that they drink vampire blood and that they are werewolves as well. Holly also tells Sookie that this new coven has called all local witches and Wiccans to join them. Furthermore, Sookie learns that her brother, Jason, is missing and starts looking for him. Sookie informs Alcide Herveaux of the existence of this werewolves-witch coven in Shreveport and heads to Hotshot to speak to Crystal Norris (a were-panther) as she was the last person Jason was seen with."
The third season of True Blood continues on Sundays at 9pm on HBO.

True Blood Cast Goes Naked for Rolling Stone Magazine

Vamping it up: Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer naked and dripping blood on the latest cover of Rolling Stone, on stands this week

Fans of the hit HBO series True Blood are going crazy over the September issue of Rolling Stone. Why, you ask? Because the show’s three hottest stars (Anna Paquin, Alexander Skarsgard and Stephen Moyer) are naked – and covered in blood - on the cover.

While many think the cover is gruesome (after all, the actors are stripped nude and splattered with blood), True Blood fans are crazy excited to see the issue hit newsstands this week.

Perhaps even more shocking than the splattered blood and lack of clothing is the position of the stars in the photo. Real-life couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer (who just got engaged at the beginning of the month), are striking a provocative pose in the controversial pic, with Stephen grabbing Anna’s naked breast with his blood-covered hand.

The creator of the show, Alan Ball, also weighs in, saying: 'The idea of celibate vampires is ridiculous. 'To me, vampires are sex. I don't get a vampire story about abstinence.'

The quote is obviously a thinly veiled comment on Stephenie Meyer's smash hit Twilight series of books and movies. Meyer is a Mormon and in her books, the vampires in question have to abstain from sex with their human counterparts so as not to kill them.

And Ball isn't afraid of alienating the core teenage audience that is drawn to the Twilight projects. True Blood already has a huge following on the HBO channel.

'I'm 53,' says Ball. 'I don't care about high school students. I find them irritating and uninformed.'

The highly anticipated cover hits newsstands today and is expected to be one of the highest selling issues of the year. The caption on the cover reads “True Blood, They’re Hot, They’re Sexy, They’re Undead.”

Do you think the True Blood Rolling Stone Cover is sexy???

True Blood To Continue Until 2015?

Stasr turning out for the 2010 SAG Awards in Hollywood, CA. - Russ Einhorn / Splash News

Anna Paquin has hinted True Blood will continue until at least 2015.

The star has told an Australian mag how she is looking forward to spending the next five years with the hit TV show’s cast and crew.

The 28-year-old Oscar winner said: “I can’t think of a group of people that I would rather spend the next five years of my life with. It’s just a dream come true as an actor.

But the star is still mystified as to why people are so fascinated with vampires. “Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that they’re often very sexy – and kind of dangerous,” she said.

The New Zealander also tells Famous magazine season three of the series is definitely the sexiest so far.

Anna, who is engaged to True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer, added: “It’s been full of weird, kinky vampire sex from the very beginning, so I’m kind of used to it by now.”

True Blood Star Bares All

The wild and otherworldly antics on True Blood are fraught with life and death, and undead scenarios amid an often-naked cast are just another day at the office for principal actors Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer.

One might consider, with all that excitement, their off-screen relationship, presumably devoid of blood-drinking, vampire killing or supernatural sex, would seem comparably dull.

Not necessarily so. If you ask Moyer, 40, who appreciates the everyday minutia of life with his betrothed, even the milestone many men fear - meeting one's future mother-in-law - was approached with enthusiasm.

"It was late last year," he said. "I flew to Wellington to meet her mum for the first time. Without Anna."

Grinning, he continues: "It was lovely, actually. I was picked up at the airport at nine in the morning, driven around for hours, introduced to all Anna's friends and family. I had lunch with her mum, and then at four o'clock she stuck me back on the plane to go back to Auckland where I was filming [the upcoming adventure flick, Ice]."

Aside from the regular nerves and stresses one experiences when enduring scrutiny from future family members, another dimension is surely added when each of them have seen you near-naked, let alone conducting acts, albeit simulated, that are usually conducted in private.

He laughs. "You mean, you're asking me if it was weird that Anna's mum had obviously seen a lot of me before we met? Well, I don't know. I didn't ask Mary that.

"But you need to realise that she's a very spunky, very modern, evolved woman. She's very aware of what it is that we do and what it is that Anna does.

"Remember, she was with Anna was she was 14 or 15 and doing all those provocative movies like Hurly Burly and 25th Hour."

Now in season three, the award-winning series has an influx of new characters, including a pack of werewolves. The "hot" quotient of True Blood's cast has been amped up this season with the addition of Joe Manganiello, who plays werewolf Alcide Herveaux.

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer star in Prime's new drama series True Blood. Paquin won a Golden Globe earlier this year for her portrayal of Southern barmaid Sookie Stackhouse, who is attracted to the town's first resident vampire, a Civil War veteran named Bill (played by Moyer). The newcomer to the series explains: "It's hard to believe, but, after a while, standing naked in a field in the middle of the afternoon with a wild animal 10 feet away becomes second nature. What was difficult was how my character was described in the book as having 'biceps as big as boulders that Sookie could do pull-ups on'. So I have to match that, which means a lot of time in the gym."

For Moyer, now a seasoned veteran of nudity and on-screen intimacy, "the naked aspect is part and parcel of the show. And honestly, when I'm doing a sex scene, all I think about is the food I'm going to eat after the scene is finished.

"Everybody has to starve themselves so if they put the sex scene after lunch, it's a f***ing nightmare. Believe me, there's nothing exciting about doing those scenes."

He pauses. "Actually, I nearly came in naked today, with a cock sock on, just to make your day." Moyer is nothing if not entertaining.

Despite his cavalier attitude, he's not completely blase when it comes to this season's controversial episode featuring the was-it-or-wasn't-it rape scene between Bill and Lorena (Mariana Klevano).

"I certainly questioned Alan Ball about some of the content in this season," Moyer admits. And how does Paquin deal with watching it? Moyer sighs. "It's an odd thing we do. We know that there are things that are going to happen which are going to be slightly odd or provocative, and we have to deal with them like any other couple would.

"I mean, at least we're a couple who work together on the same show and understand the plotting of it. It must be incredibly difficult for couples where the partner isn't an actor."

But Moyer is not impervious to the effects. "It's tough for me to watch Anna do it with anybody else. But we read the scripts and talk about it before we attack those scenes. And bottom line is we trust each other implicitly and we deal with shit when it comes up straight away. We're far healthier because of it."

Moyer has two significant past relationships which have resulted in two children, Billy, 10, and Lilac, 8. Interestingly, he hadn't felt the impetus to marry until he met Paquin.

"It felt ridiculous to call the person that you really are going to spend the rest of your life with your girlfriend," he explains.

"And so I felt like it should be something more than that with Anna. I felt like she should have a title, even if it means I could just joke around and call her 'the missus' and make lots of wife gags.

"It certainly surprised me more than anyone else. I mean, my friends are beyond shocked. Marriage was something that I was never, ever going to do. Nobody was more shocked than Paq was. I should have got the [St] John's Ambulance crew when I proposed," he says.

Despite the high divorce rate for regular folk, let alone couples whose careers push such extreme boundaries, Moyer is confident their relationship will stand the test of time.

"How am I sure? I don't know. I honestly don't know. But I know that it's different, and I know that it's a solid unit. No one knows anything for sure and either of us could change our minds at any point.

"But I'm as sure of this relationship as I've ever been of anything in my life."

Paris Hilton Has A Taste For 'True Blood'

Paris Hilton is such a big fan of vampire show True Blood that she wants to film a cameo in a future episode. She  would love to sink her teeth into a guest spot on True Blood.

"There's only one show I really watch and it's True Blood," the heiress declared. "I think it's a really awesome show."

If she made a special appearance on the hit HBO series, the 29-year-old would like to play "maybe a vampire or something," told E Online. "I think that would be fun."

Unfortunately for Hilton however, it doesn't look like she'll ever get to make an appearance on True Blood, as the cast recently revealed that writers weren't intending to include celebrity cameos anytime soon - including a part for rapper Snoop Dogg.

The socialite's friend Adrian Grenier has said he wants to the blonde to appear on his hit show, Entourage. "I want to get Paris on next year," the actor said. "It's about time. We're going to make it happen."

True Blood's Joe Manganiello Would Bet Money on More TV Nudity in His Future

Hey mom, everybody's doing it! But does everyone look so good in nude scenes?

The exposure comes easy to Joe Manganiello as protective and loyal werewolf Alcide on HBO's True Blood because, hey, his costars are shedding their clothes too!

"[It's not] uncomfortable as long as everyone else has to do it," Manganiello told PEOPLE at the 9th Annual InStyle Summer Soiree in Hollywood. "Everyone else has to do it, so when it's your turn, it's your turn."

And fans of the new Hollywood heartthrob, 33, can rest assured, those racy scenes will keep coming. "I'm never going to stop shape shifting," Manganiello said. "So I'm sure there will be more [nudity] in the future. I would bet money on that."

But as a serious, theater-trained actor, Manganiello cares more about people appreciating his art than appreciating his abs. "For years, I've been begging people to watch the shows I was on, and now I don't have to," he says. "It's definitely the best thing [about fame]."

Well, that and your carved abs getting so much screen time.

True Blood Season Episode 8 - Head by Otep

So I noticed that many True Blood fans (TrueBies) wanted to know what the last song was on the previous True Blood Episode - here it is and enjoy!!!

Head by Otep - True Blood Season 3 Episode 8 Music

Sam Trammell of True Blood does Funny Or Die Pizza Delivery Trainings Video

Sam Trammell announced some time ago that he was going to shoot a Funny Or Die video, well it has just been released online.

In this video Sam explains how to become a pizza delivery guy, the true cowboys of our time. This makes me want to see Sam Trammell, True Blood‘s shapeshifter Sam, do more comedy. In a new Funny or Die offering, he stars in a “pizza delivery man” training video. I’d love to know how many takes it took to get out the line “Now I gotta go look at a cellphone pic — my girlfriend’s titties.” Maybe I’ll tweet him that question, because how often does one get to use “titties” in a sentence for professional purposes? (“Hey, @SamTrammell, how many takes for the ‘titties’ line? Thanks! EW”)

Football boofhead attacks True Blood's "barrage of homosexuality"

Football boofhead attacks True Blood's
Lafayette, one of True Blood's gay characters

An American football player has had to apologise for slamming True Blood's gay plots and characters.
"Caught up on Trueblood las nite," tweeted Philadelphia Eagles player Todd Herremans (the bad spelling is his, not TVFIX's). "Not a fan of how they get u hooked with the 1st 2 seasons then bring on a barrage of homosexuality."

(The offending tweet has since disappeared from his account.)

Admittedly, the latest episode of True Blood (episode 8) to air in the States was, by all accounts, pretty gay — at least five of the vampire drama's male characters got it on. But that's no excuse for this kind of homophobia.

Herremans was referring to the HBO vampire show, and apparently ruffled some feathers in the front office.   "After speaking with Eagles management, I realize that my tweet earlier was insensitive and tasteless, and for this, I deeply apologize," Herremans later wrote (funny that his spelling and grammar miraculously cleared up for this one). "It was not my intention to offend or hurt anyone."

If a barrage of homosexuality doesn't bother you, you can catch the third season of True Blood when it premieres in Australia on August 19 at 8.30pm on Showcase.

What Power Does Lafayette Reynolds Have?

Lafayette Reynolds
Does Lafayette have powers?
A Look at Lafayette Reynolds

By now you should have watched Season 3, Episode 8 of True Blood. In this episode, among all of the other craziness that is True Blood, we hear Lafayette’s mother say that he has powers that he doesn’t know about. Lafayette immediately dismisses her “crazy ass”. She is being held at a loony bin, so that makes you immediately disregard her psychotic rants, right? WRONG! There is no way in hell that she said that just to say it. She even went on a rant about witches, dogs & cats coming to get him.

Is his mom some kind of psychic? Maybe she has witch blood in her? I am not 100% sure. But I do know that Lafayette has some kind of power. The evidence is definitely stacking up on my side of this argument. Here are some of my reasons to believe that Lala (as his mom affectionately calls him) has powers.

There is also a moment when Jesus tells Lafayette that his mom’s ramblings about him being “powerful” are true. Jesus also goes on to say that Lafayettes drug dealing can be dangerous due to “all that energy” he has. He tells Lala that things could go “dark” real quick.

I think this is in reference to good and bad witchcraft. Jesus being a good witch, there to protect Lafayette and his mom, trying to keep him on the light side of things.

I think Lafayette has witch powers in him. Maybe some kind of psychic ability or strength or attraction/seduction ability. Reasons to Believe Lafayette has a Power

1. He is a tough gay, African American that no one messes with.
2. Vampires hire him to sell their blood (also known as V).
3. Eric Northman spares his life after holding him captive in his Fangtasia dungeon. He must have sense something in Lala, like he did on Sookie.
4. Eric Northman gives him his blood to heal. Eric doesn’t give out his blood to just anyone. Thus forming that bond between Lafayette and himself, similar to how Sookie is connected to Bill and Eric, and Tara is connected to Franklin.
5. In the Sookie books, Lafayette is already dead by now. Keeping him alive on the show must mean that there are bigger and better things coming for Lafayette. I know they originally kept him on because he was a fan favorite, but still, that just means that they are expanding his role on the show.
6. He seems to be the only person that can ease Tara’s quivering lip and angst.
7. He knows when things are not right with Tara.
8. He has a new suitor, Jesus. Which just happens to be Lafayette’s mom’s attendant at the mental hospital.
9. He is versatile: Jobs so far consist of being a short order cook at Merlotte’s, a drug dealer, a member of Jason’s road crew, and a gay prostitute.
10. He was able to sway Eric into not killing him.
11. Jesus makes it a point to go on about Lafayette’s being “powerful” and about his “energy”.

Now, there are probably more reasons, but I just can’t think of any from True Blood season 1 or season 2. But the fact that Jesus is taking a liking to Lafayette has got to do with his powers. Jesus seems to be some kind of witch too, or just s serious stalker. :) How does he know so much about the “energy” that Lafayette has?

Anna Paquin Talks About True Blood on Lopez Tonight

The 5-time Emmy-nominated "True Blood" star talks to George about the "True Blood" porno spoof, and her biggest fan, Snoop Dogg. Plus, Anna talks about her new fiancé, and how he feels about her many, many sex scenes on "True Blood."

Joe Manganiello: Discusses True Blood Season 3 and Season 4 Highlights

Joe Manganiello talks season 3 and 4 of True Blood with MTV

Unfortunately for the "True Blood" spoiler seekers out there, the cast is just a touch too media savvy to know not to spill any big plot secrets. Take our recent chat with newly-named series regular Joe Manganiello for example, who, when asked about season 3 finale teasers, said: "The end of season 3 is nuts! What it opens up for season 4 is crazy!" (Thanks for those specifics there, Joe).

He did, however, cross into spoiler territory when he let us in on Alcide's overall character arc. "I know for my character, I got to talk to Charlaine [Harris], because she just wrote the tenth book and Alcide is in the tenth book," Joe explained when we caught up with him at Comic-Con 2010.

"We talked about his arc," he continued, "and his trajectory and I think really, his arc is this reluctant construction worker who doesn’t want to be any part of it, he just wants to be left alone to go nurse his broken heart but he gets roped into all of this and winds up, in the books [SPOILER ALERT] becoming the pack leader."

The 33-year-old actor also revealed that there will be a war for control within the pack, and that Alcide's journey, "is dealing with that beast he’s suppressed inside of himself and tried to hide and how that when that beast comes out how he starts giving into that power," he explained. "That affects him in the end sort of corrupts him a bit. So, it’s his battle wrestling the wolf inside him."

To which Kristin Bauer commented with a hint of sauciness: "The beast coming out of Joe ... It’s all good."

True Blood Watch: How a Vampire Prepares for a Sex Scene with Alexander Skarsgard

Some actors rehearse their lines over and over. Others practice with their coaches. But True Blood‘s Theo Alexander prefers a more unconventional routine to prepare for a scene.

“I remember that I went back to my trailer and I concentrated. I did some acting exercises. I was playing the archetype of a lover, so I put on a sexy, slow song and almost did like a belly dance,” the Greek actor tells Movieline.com about getting ready for his vampire-on-vampire sex scene with Alexander Skarsgard.

Though Alexander — who plays Talbot, the lover of the vampire King of Mississippi, on the hit HBO series — says he and Skarsgard were “both a little anxious” the week leading up to the shoot, he thinks he was even more terrified than his costar since his nerves kicked in immediately after he received the script. “The part about kissing another man” was what scared him the most, he says.

“Many people told me, ‘Oh, just close your eyes and think of him as a woman.’ But no, because that is a totally different energy … I had to open myself to be able to actually be attracted to him, like, really attracted to him,” Alexander explains, adding that Skarsgard “helped me get beyond the physical part of the scene.”
“I’m glad I did it,” he says, “because every time you face your fears you move forward.”

His family, however, won’t get to see him tackle those fears. “Actually, my mother will get the DVD without that scene,” he says with a laugh. –Eunice Oh

Kristin Bauer Stays Hungry to Fit in ‘True Blood’ Wardrobe

Rocking a latex dress is no easy task. Rocking a latex dress on TV, where the camera adds an extra 10 lbs., requires sacrifice. “The other day I realized as long as I’m in this business, I’m going to be hungry,” True Blood‘s Kristin Bauer tells Popeater about her strategy to looking fang-tastic. Since joining the cast of HBO’s hit series last season as the figure-flaunting Pam, Bauer, who once played Jerry’s man-handed date on Seinfield, has stepped up her diet and exercise regimen to accommodate the form-fitting and body-flaunting costumes of Eric Northman’s (Alexander Skarsgard) sexy sidekick. “During that first wardrobe fitting, I knew I would have my midriff showing. I thought, ‘I need to get serious’ and started going to ab classes more regularly.” As part of a show known as much for its chiseled physiques as its skin-piercing fangs, the vegetarian acknowledges to Movieline that her costars are “all working out like crazy and have diets,” which for the ladies includes avoiding carbs onset. “All the women walk by Craft services and keep going. I don’t even know why we walk by, we’re just torturing ourselves.” And while she’s in tiptop form, Bauer says she’s still motivated to sweat a little more: “After any wardrobe fitting, I hit the gym three times more than the week before.” – Christie LaRusso

Watch True Blood Season 3 Episode 8 "Night on The Sun" Review

'True Blood' season 3, episode 8, 'Night on the Sun': Revenge is a dish best served to the cold-blooded.

It's payback time on "True Blood"! For Eric, it's been a thousand years in coming, and it couldn't have come at a better time for Bill and Sookie, though Debbie Pelt lives to crazy another day. We get a little movement on our subplots, some we care about (Lafayette and Jesus, Tara's PTSD) and some we don't (Arlene's baby daddy, the entire Mickens clan), but all quibbles fall away in the last five minutes, with an epic showdown on two fronts. (Well, one front and one back, if you know what I mean.)

true-blood-season-3-episode-8.jpgFrom the beginning: Sookie comes back to life thanks to the blood of her undead boyfriend (who gave her the near-death experience in the first place). She's screaming, of course. Bill is incredibly sorrowful and tells Sookie that he couldn't stop from feeding on her because he had been starved, but Sookie says she doesn't know if she can ever forgive him. Bill says he doesn't want (re: deserve) to be forgiven. It's a heartbreaking scene, with Bill telling Sookie that she deserves to live a full life in the light, and it's too bad he looks like Alice Cooper when he starts crying tears of blood, because it did ruin the moment a little for me. They break up. Sniff.

Talbot is not pleased when Sophie-Anne and her retinue of animals move into Russell Edgington's home, particularly after having he was up half the night burying werewolves under the gazebo and trying to get bloodstains out of the 500 threat count linens. Russell tells to Talbot that he killed the Magister, and when Talbot starts to freak out, Russell tells him it will be fine; he sent a huge check to the vampire rights group fighting for vampire rights amendment, so he's covered. Eric, still wearing the same blood-splattered baby blue sweater, interrupts to tell Russell that Debbie Pelt is in his study: "They killed my Cooter!" Debbie says. Russell gives her his permission to go after Sookie, though when Eric questions the wisdom of this, Russell questions Eric's loyalty. Eric seethes that he's been looking for Russell for a thousand years ... that is, a leader to unite us all! How can Russell have survived three thousand years and not see through Eric? He's not that hot. Okay, he is. But still.

Rene returns! Sorta. Arlene dreams that Rene, her serial killer boyfriend dispatched at the end of the first season by one Miss Sookie Stackhouse, is with her in her bedroom, and he's mighty pleased that she's carrying his child. Drat. There goes my theory that Arlene got pregnant during one of MaryAnn's orgies and we'd get a black-eyed steer for a baby.

Bill comes back to Bon Temps; Jessica is thrilled because Daddy is home! Finally someone to clean up after her messes. But Bill releases her and tells her to leave. Jessica admits she drained someone in his absence, and she really needs him to teach her this whole vampire thing. When she breaks down in tears, he relents. He starts training Jessica, but they take a break for Jessica to urge Bill to get back together with Sookie. Bill admits he still loves Sookie, "which is why I have to let her go." Jessica admits she loves Hoyt, but she needs to let him be with someone who's good enough for him.

Alcide takes Sookie home to Bon Temps, and she offers up her guest bedroom to him. Jason shows up with Sheriff Andy and tries to convince her to press charges "for domestic ... something" against Bill. Who else is sick of Jason's fake-deputy act? It stopped being cute a while back. Sookie defends Bill, but says it's over between them. Jason tells her he'll kill Bill, and Andy tells him he won't be killing anybody. Jason turns to Andy and tries to signal to him not to think about Eggs, which has the effect, of course, of tipping off Sookie. Jason tries to storm out, saying he'll get that fanger, but Sookie takes him to task for being a bigot. He leaves. The next day, Jason is playing with his shotgun (and that is not a euphemism), when Crystal shows up at his door, wet all over with a nasty-looking black eye. She says she swam so they couldn't track her scent. (Hint! But Jason doesn't pick up on it.) Crystal tells him she got beat up because she told her fiance Felton she didn't want to marry him, which pleases Jason. Except for the beat-up part. They kiss. And then they do more. When Crystal goes into the bathroom to take a shower, Jason grabs the shotgun and leaves.

Lafayette ministers to Tara, who won't yet talk about what happened with Franklin. Later, Tara dreams of Franklin and his nasty fangs, and they kiss, then she wakes up. Lafayette's crazy mother Ruby Jean shows up his house, saying the vampires are coming for him. But it's Jesus who comes by. He makes a few digs about Lafayette's drug dealing, but they're interrupted by Ruby Jean has knife. Jesus talks her down. Later, Lafayette tells him he's been trying to get out of drug dealing, but he's interrupted by Jesus's lips.
Ma Mickens shows up in pitiful dog form at Sam's rental house. Sam makes her pack up her stuff and leave; she says she knows Joe Lee is no good, but she can't help loving him, and she'll always love Tommy. Then, of course, she asks Sam for some money. Sam, like a fool, gives her a ad of cash, but she has the gall to ask for more. Then she's gone. Sick of this subplot, too.

Because there's nothing like a melanoma to cure a broken heart, Sookie is sunning on the lawn. Tara joins her. Sookie is beating herself up for trusting Bill too much, but she seems to be considering going back to him. Tara calls her crazy and says she's going to wind up dead; that the look in Bill's eyes in the back of the van was just like what she saw in Franklin's eyes: cold and crazy. Tara stomps off, still refusing to talk about what happened with Franklin.

Hadley, Sophie-Anne's consort and Sookie's cousin, is demuring tying a black lace robe over her unmentionables and walking down the hallway at Russell's when Eric, bleeding from his ear and his nose (?), tells her to deliver a message to Sookie. We don't get to hear that message, but next time we see her, she's at Sookie's back door (greeted by Sookie with a shotgun). Hadley doesn't even know that Gran died, like, two seasons ago, and Sookie clearly doesn't know where Hadley has been or with whose company she keeps. Until now. The message from Eric is: Russell is coming for Sookie, and don't trust Bill. Sookie's like, yeah, right, I'm supposed to trust Eric? As Hadley flees, Sookie catches a snippet from Hadley's mind about how Hadley is so sorry she told them about Sookie. Apparently this has something to so with her visit to the magical spring.

Alcide finds out that Debbie burned down his sister's hair salon. Alcide says he's got to find Debbie before she hurts anyone else, but asks Sookie to find someone to protect her because Russell or the Weres could come back for her. She says Bill will protect her if anyone tries to harm her. They share a long, lingering hug goodbye and think pretty hard about kissing, but they don't.
Sam hires Tommy to work in Merlotte's, and Tommy's first order of business is picking a fight with Hoyt over Jessica. Sam gives Tommy a little pep talk, tells him to think about his future, maybe go to college, to which Tommy responds, "You really don't know me at all, do you?," and walks out.
Talbot is throwing a hissy fit about Russell leaving him again for work. He's smashing Russell's relics, but as he grabs Eric's father's crown, Eric stops him and suggestively says he'll keep Talbot company. That appeases Talbot, as it should. Eric puts away the crown. Later, Talbot and Eric are playing chess. When Eric wins, Talbot pushes aside the pieces and tells Eric to take off his clothes. "It's been a long time since I've done this," Eric says. "A man?" "A vampire." And they start kissing.

Crystal's father and fiance show up at Merlotte's looking for her. They're pretty nasty about it, and Sam asks them to leave, but when Felton comes in close and calls Sam a shifter and threatens to emasculate him, Tommy starts to go after them. Sam stops him, and the Hotshot duo take their leave. In Hotshot, Jason follows a trail of blood and some "Deliverance"-style banjo music into a garage, where he finds a mangy-looking man (woman?) feasting on some kind of animal. Freaked, Jason heads back outside to find Crystal's dad driving up. Jason points the shotgun at him and tells him that Crystal is never coming back. Crystal's father lets him go, but clearly he has plans for Jason.

Sure enough, the Weres, with Debbie in tow, show up at Sookie's house. But Bill and Jessica are there, and take the Weres down. Debbie makes it upstairs and breaks down Sookie's door. She finds Sookie holding a shotgun. Debbie tells her she's got nothing to live for anyway. Sookie says the only reason she hasn't shot her yet is because Alcide still loves her "for reasons I ain't even gonna try to make sense of." Debbie wrests the gun away from her Sooke smacks her, but Debbie punches her back, harder. Bill tears himself away from one of the dead Weres and is about to come to Sookie's aid when he sees Jessica tear out the door after another Were; he thinks a moment about going upstairs but follows Jessica outside and finds her in Russell's clutches. Russell says he'll trade Jessica for Sookie but Bill tries get him to pick on someone his own age. Russell lets Jessica go; she takes off with a Were in hot pursuit, and Russell easily subdues Bill, searing his silver spurs into his face.

Meanwhile, Debbie and Sookie are still going at it in the bedroom. Sookie manages to slice up her face with a pair of scissors, then grabs the shotgun. Cut to Russell clobbering Bill. Cut to Eric and Talbot writing in front of Russell's trophy case. Yes, you know where this is going. "Russell took my family," Eric whispers from behind Talbot. "Now I take his." And he spears Talbot. (That too is not a euphemism.) Russell feels Talbot dying, and flies off. Bill is, to say the least, surprised. Back upstairs, Sookie blows a hole in the wall next to Debbie and warns her that next time, she won't miss. Debbie takes off. Bill rushes upstairs, and they embrace, Bill whispering his apologies between kisses. We see Hoyt driving home, and pan to Jessica in the woods, feeding on the downed Were. And we pan back upstairs in Sookie's house, where Bill and Sookie have reunited in the most intimate (and in this case, rather rough) way possible.

Why True Blood Kicks Twilight's Ass

With True Blood's Season 3 and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse both headed our way this month we here at IGN felt the need to set the record straight once and for all: TRUE BLOOD KICKS TWILGHT'S ASS!

It's true. True Blood wins. Easily. On almost every single conceivable level. It's hardly even a fair fight. It's like watching a bed-ridden asthmatic try to knock down a sequoia. By huffing and puffing. True Blood is a salaciously sinister and fiendishly fun series featuring insane characters filled with life and color. Twilight is a sniffly-nosed, dew-covered mope-fest filled with silence and shame. Yes, because of the "vampire factor", these two creative products share fans as there will always be fans of vampires no matter what movie they're in or what show they're on. Like everything else that exists in pop-culture there are apologists. But Twilight is listless and dreary. And it's not that we don't fully appreciate the forests and gravel roads of the Pacific Northwest as a backdrop, but Twilight wallows too much in the picturesque serenity of its locale and loses all sense of danger. It never effectively conveys the "horror" that lies behind the small town facade. It essentially targets eight year-olds (under the guise of a teen romance) by effectively de-evolving the entire genre.

The cast of True Blood. In "bad things" mode. - HBO
Knives out! We know Twilight fans will take major umbrage with this feature but we also know they'll probably have to look up what the word "umbrage" means so we'll try to stay a couple steps ahead of them. True Blood has its fair share of detractors, sure; mostly because of its ham-fisted tonality, bawdy content and subtext about tolerance and equality (hey, some people object to those things!). And while it has a very respectable rabid fan base based of the Charlane Harris novels and the HBO series, its fandom is nowhere near the insane levels of worldwide obsession that accompany the Twilight series. And while we surely respect everyone's opinion regarding things that they watch or read that make their miserable lives on this planet a smidge more tolerable, we ask that you respect our opinion as we point out all the reasons why True Blood had chunks of Twilight in its stool!

Vlad The Impaler

Vampires have always been the sexiest mythological creatures (sorry Flesh-Shredding Dryads!) so it makes sense that people might want to see these guys actually have sex with people. Who wants to sit around for two hours and watch people yearn? Who really wants to explore the depths of an ultimately unfulfilling relationship? Yes, there is merit to tackling the themes of lovelorn longing, but we'd rather leave that topic to more adept authors than Stephenie Meyer. In True Blood, everyone has sex! They bone 24/7! And they don't try to hide the fact that the thing that initially draws each of them to one another is raw sexual attraction. Sure, they grow to know each other later and, hell, they might even learn to tolerate each other's contrived southern eccentricities, but first things first! Sex. And lot's of it. Hell, Sookie and Bill spent almost an entire episode under the sheets. I think she had to get up at some point to go get some Gatorade or a turkey sandwich or something, but for the most part it was just them screwing in a Dallas Hotel room.

Seventh-inning stretch. - HBO
Bella and Edward spend all their free time exchanging meaningless niceties under porcelain pretences. Sulky stares and sullen smirks. And of course Bella's dad is cool with her dating a vampire! He knows that dude is never going to even touch her boob! It's pretty much just like letting her date a gay guy. Actually, no. It's safer. See, dads don't care about their little girls running around with monsters if that monster is an ineffectual, uncharismatic neutered lump. Yes, Edward and Bella do wind up having sex eventually. After they get married. And just once. Enough to get her pregnant. We all know Twilight is an anorexically-veiled "abstinence until marriage/sex only for babies" parable, but does it also have to be so boring?

In True Blood, vampires represent sex. And rightfully so. Sex with vamps is established as being exponentially better and their blood can be used as supernatural Viagra. The ritual draining of a sex partner's blood (not for killing) is depicted as an erotic act that heightens pleasure for both parties.

So then…point for True Blood. An erotic, insatiable sweltering point.

A Grave New World

In Twilight, it's business as usual for vamps. Hiding out. Wracked by shame and guilt. Some like to wreak havoc and spill the blood of the innocent. Some like to soak up self-pity like a sponge and drink deer protein shakes. They're in hiding, and the unfortunate victims of the bad vampires usually get written off by the police as being mauled by some sort of wild animal. The underworld vampire hierarchy decrees that vampires must remain hidden. And sparkly. Booooring.

True Blood's world is vibrant and fresh. Vampires live among humans. They've come "out of the coffin." They have jobs. They have magazines. Talk shows. Bars. Townships. But it's still a fairly new scenario so there still are rampant prejudices on both sides of the vampire/human relations. Whereas Twilight is an allegory for not giving in to your "dirty, filthy urges," True Blood tackles racism, segregation, religion and a flurry of other socially relevant topics that helps the series stand out as a true game-changer in the vampire genre.

Man, nothing gets pancreas out. - HBO
The vampires on True Blood have Kings and Queens, Sheriffs and Magistras and a whole infrastructure of nefarious law and order. And since vampires are now blending into society one of the most fascinating elements of the show is watching how the two justice systems collide! Plus, in a straight world vs. world battle, the world that has vamps, werewolves and shifters, pagan demons, witches, fairies and other assorted boogey-creatures wins by a supernatural landslide.

Morally relevant subtext prevails! Point for True Blood.

ReVamp/Remodel

The vampires of Twilight sparkle and shimmer in the sun, turning them into beautiful pieces of unthreatening art. Yes, this is something that's easy to take a pot-shot at and it's been sort of the "go-to" fanboy tirade circling the Twi-series for the past few years. But despite the fact that this element of the Meyer stories has been mocked ad nauseam, it never ceases to be utterly ridiculous and facepalm-worthy. Never. Twilight fans, your argument has never been more invalid.

If you insist on NOT exploding in the sun then you have to go to school, mister!
True Blood vampires are able to make progressive leaps and bounds genre-wise while still adhering to the basic established vampire rules concerning sunlight. And they're horny. And complex. And feral. And peaceful. And able to think like creatures of the modern-era. Let's compare the two scenes – the meet/cute scenes – in both Twilight and True Blood; when Edward sees Bella for the first time and when Bill sees Sookie for the first time. When Edward sees Bella, his eyes awkwardly widen, his nostrils flair and he gets an uncontrollable vamp-boner (see: Edward smelling her "specialness") and has to excuse himself from science class like a dandy who just pooped his pantaloons. When Bill sees Sookie, there's a sultry sexual brooding that happens, letting us know that Bill wants to "f the s" out of Sookie and he's not ashamed to show it in his eyes.

It's eventually explained in the books True Blood is based on (and will be covered in Season 3 of the series) why vampires go "ga-ga" for Sookie. And yes, they also eventually explain why Bella is conveniently Edward's "plain Jane" heroin fix. But True Blood's explanation helps create more of a dynamic mythological landscape while Twilight just gives us more of that "you're special just by being introspective and boring" mulecrap.

Vampires are vampires are vampires. Point for True Blood.

Werewolf? There Wolf!

First off, we're not ones to assume, or demand, that fans of the Twilight movies or the True Blood TV show have or should read the books that they're based on. But for all you Twilight fans who think that Jacob and his pack of mystical dogs are werewolves? Shame on y'all! They're a clan of shapeshifters that take the form of wolves. Hence the reason they can turn into wolves without the icky, painful "growing hair and breaking bones" parts. They're basically like True Blood's Sam Merlotte, except they can only turn into one thing. Like that one Wonder Twin who could only turn into a bucket of water.

WTF is that?!!

So then…why the title New Moon? That's rotten and misleading, no? That fully suggests real werewolves. Season 3 of True Blood, just like book 3 of the Harris series, contains real freakin' werewolves who will really freakin' rip your face off! But don't tell that to this ingenious Twilight fan who wrote a letter to Latino Review (thinking she was writing to Universal) about how Twilight invented werewolves and that not only did their movie, The Wolfman, totally bite the concept from New Moon but then shamefully turned the werewolf into a grotesque beast.

"This movie was a complete waste and I feel that it offends ALL Twilight Fans around the world, that including myself. For one, it was a COMPLETE remaking of the Wolf Pack from The Twilight Saga: New Moon. It gives the werewolves a bad name and makes them look like some deformed mutation of a rabid dog. I actually started to like werewolves after seeing Jacob Black and all his awesomeness on the big screen at the movies. That was until I saw your crappy remake of what you call to be a "were wolf". I don't see how you live with yourself for making it the way you did. If I made this movie, I would be ashamed to even admit that I owned it. How can a werewolf be killed with a silver bullet*? Better yet, have you saw the transformation of the man that is "supposed" to be the wolf? He sits in some chair and his entire body turns in to some mutated freak. If you would watch the transformation of Jacob Black, (Taylor Lautner) he doesn't come close to looking as fake, cheap and or mutated as the wolf man. You tell me, who looks to be the better werewolf. Your stupid Wolf Movie didn't even make the top Movie for the charts; Valentines Day WITH TAYLOR Lautner! Get that this is MY oppinion and I felt I wanted to express it because I saw that your email was on your site. I wanted to let you know this is what i thought of the wolf man that sucks.
FREAKIN LAUTNER DID!
TEAM JACOB- cuz hes a REAL WEREWOLVE!"

We heart you, Kayla.

So good. So good. Fifty points for True Blood.

The Devil's Concubines

Sookie is a beautiful strong-willed, impulsive telepath whose parents were killed when she was young. Bella is a dour, dreary blank-slate who can't get over the fact that her life is fine and dandy. Bella is rescued from her more-than-adequate existence after randomly finding the one boy in the world who she drives into an inexplicable sexual frenzy and is willing to pledge himself to her eternally.

Sookie's life becomes a swirling torrent of chaos and adventure after she starts shacking up with Gentleman Bill and draws the ire of a local serial killer who likes to brutally dispatch 'fang-bangers."

The biggest difference between Bella and Sookie (other than the fact that Bella is so dull that she makes the viewer themselves question whether or not they have mono) is that Bella wants to become a vampire and Sookie wants nothing to do with it. As tumultuous as Sookie's existence has been and always will be, she loves who she is and wants to grow old and experience life like a normal girl. Bella wants desperately to abandon her perfectly acceptable life of being "run of the mill" and extend her languid existence until the end of time and space.

Plus, Sookie's got an Oscar.

Plus plus…Sookie shows her t**s and Bella looks like the kid from Frailty.

Does a thousand points for True Blood seem fair?

Fango and Cash

Comparing Edward and Jacob to Bill and Eric is kind of like comparing an ice sculpture of a malnourished swan and a broken piece of treated back porch flooring to ferocious hell-demons with flaming d***s.

Oh, and Jacob totally looks like a llama.

Really, that's all there is to say on the matter.

Infinity points for True Blood
harharharharharhar!!!!

Lauren Bowles New True Blood Character "Holly Cleary"

She’s new in town and we will meet her on Sunday.  Lauren Bowles is Holly Cleary, Merlotte’s newest waitress.  In an interview on Fancast, we learned a few things about Lauren and about Holly.

Lauren said she only had one audition for the role and did not expect to get the part.  And because she was a huge fan of True Blood and everything Alan Ball, she screamed when she did get it and when she found out that Holly would be coming back in Season 4.
“I always knew it was a possibility.  When I got that call, it was another huge scream!”
As with the other actors on the show, Lauren was pretty tight-lipped about her character.  In Charlaine Harris‘ books, Holly is a witch.  Rumor has it that Alan is keeping to the books on this one, but Lauren said she signed a confidentiality agreement and can’t confirm or deny.  She did, however, say that Holly has “some interesting abilities that will develop”.
Holly is a single mom and she and Arlene become good friends.  Off the set, Lauren has bonded with both Carrie Preston (Arlene) and Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), who she says is “pretty easy to look at”.
The interview got around to asking Lauren about her True Blood favorite characters.
“I was a ginormous Lafayette fan.  Huge Hoyt fan.  Huge Jason fan.  Jason honestly deserves his own spin off.  He’s hilarious.  Arlene, obviously.”
Regarding Team Bill or Team Alcide, Lauren said she doesn’t know how anyone can not vote for Bill.  He and Sookie “just seem destined”.

Now here’s a great question for the new waitress.  “What’s the best thing on the menu at Merlotte’s?”
Answer: “I’m not going to lie.  It’s not the best food in town, but you’re pretty safe with a bowl of gumbo and a beer.”
Meet Holly Sunday night – True Blood, on HBO or watch True Blood online free.

10 Things I’ve Learned about Vamps and Weres from Watching True Blood

Vampires and Werewolves are such interesting creatures, aren’t they?  From my observations of these two supernatural species on True Blood I’ve learned so much about their habits, behavior and culture.  Here’s some of what I’ve learned:

1. Werewolves enjoy a good howl. (And probably a good scratch behind the ears, too.)

2. Vampires enjoy a good smoke. (As long as it’s a cigar and not a woman. Huh?)

3. Werewolves have lousy fashion sense. (Understandable, I guess, if you’re always ripping your clothes off.)

4. Vampires have great fashion sense. (Though when they have the time to clothes-shop, I have no idea. Perhaps that’s what minions are for.)

5. Werewolves like to watch lame game shows like Let’s Make a Deal. (Obviously Jeopardy is too cerebral. I bet Vampires are ace at Jeopardy.)

6. Vampires are extremely messy eaters. (Ever heard of a napkin, guys!? At least werewolves have an excuse: they have no hands!)

7. Werewolves don’t do housework. (Or even decorate, apparently.)

8. Vampires don’t do housework. (Vampires will make a mess all over your carpet and expect that if they smile prettily at you, you’ll to clean it up for them. See, above, about minions.)

9. Werewolves can’t hold their V. (When they get high they tend to prance around like serial-killer schoolgirls.)

10. Vampires can hold a grudge – for an inordinately long period of time. (Oh dear Russell, you are so for it!)
